Mixed Pork Porridge

I don't normally post about food, but then this is too good to be missed out. So bear with me as I don't think I can describe it as flowery as other food bloggers, however, a food lover who I am (explains the big size) would really love to share this place with you!

See I've always loved porridge. I've heard so much olden day sayings about how porridge makes you '水肿' (puffy), so don't eat it etc etc. Already puffy d lo, to hell with it la, makan! Lol. How to achieve SNSD legs I ask you?

Back to porridge, so I've tasted my very first mixed pork porridge, or in chinese 猪什粥 back in Macalister Road, Penang where I joined the Junior International Tennis Circuit Tournament. It tasted ssssoooo good! I was like about 16/17 at that time, so the era of social media had not taken over the world, and there was no cellphones with camera, no tweet-then-eat phenomenon. So what I'm left with is just the plan old memory of how heavenly it tasted. *drools*

My parents knowing how much I love porridge found out this place in Seremban who caters this mixed pork porridge. Seeing that I'm from Port Dickson, it's just like a half and hour journey there! And with my bro taking the KTM every weekend now, my parents get to enjoy the food even more so now!

Tadaa~ 3 bowls of mixed pork porridge please~

I should have mixed up the porridge and show you up close what's inside. But then it was too good and I was hungry. Teehee~ I only like the large intestine and the stomach part usually (it sounds so disgusting saying it in English term) but then the porridge has like so many inners of the pig which I don't even recognize! But but.. khalas! All gone! Because it was that good and it didn't taste weird!

For those who are getting squirmish you may want to try this instead.
Steamed chicken!

You can either eat it with the porridge (like us), or order a plate of rice and tadaa~ awesome chicken rice! The chicken wasn't tough, and it wasn't undercook or overcooked. It was just nice, soft and succulent.

A shot of interiors of the shop

See the amount of chicken hanging there? Shop's really busy with customers either eating there or 'tapao' back to eat. It usually opens at about 6pm I think and no definite closing time as once everything is sold, then shop is closed! Imagine how good business they have that there was once my parents coming in at about 8 something to find that all the food finished! That's like in under 3 hours time! Amazing!

I'm not too sure how much a bowl cost (sorry). However for us, with 3 bowls of the porridge and 1 steamed chicken for 2, the amount came up to RM30.50. I think it was value for money!

The shop is located at Jalan Temiang, Seremban. It's a corner shoplot and for sure you'll see lots of cars being parked outside.

Restoran Kawan (Friend's Restaurant)

Got lots to do this coming week and am still waiting for my letter for induction. Hopefully all will be settled soon! Till the next post!

Missing in Action

It has been crazy long since I last posted. Lots of crazy stuff had happened throughout the end of 2012, till now 2013. I'm sure you would know through Facebook and stuff but then I think I owe it to my blog to at least update a lil, or summarize what has happened for this past 6 months!

Christmas was very low key last year. I had a week off and I initially had the thought of heading back home! But then, I was almost killed when I saw the ticket prices (to and fro, plus with the school holidays, public holidays), Huhuuuuu =(, so killed my dream of going back home. Instead I opted to have a celebration in KK, with some of my most favorite people on earth, so no regrets about that. =) (so easily contented, =_______=)

My sayangs in KK, Jeremy, Mad and Kok Leong

If it weren't for them (plus Michelle who went back to celebrate Christmas), I wouldn't have known how to survive 2012/2013. So sayangs, thank you so much! *hugs*

When 2013 came, it was more of like a stressful anticipation phase of my medical school life. Didn't help that my last posting happened to be Senior Surgical Posting. And to top it off, I was also the posting leader for my group. Double =_________=. I used to love surgery, even to the point of choosing surgery as the core of my elective posting. Now after passing through what I would describe as 'a-dark-part-of-my-medical-school-life', I've begun to doubt my interest in that subject. There was so many ongoing politics amongst the lecturer that had left me stuck in the middle. It was utterly a disaster! Here's me stuck in between of 2 lecturers (whom in the end would evaluate my performance), on each other necks all the time, however, always making me do the dirty job. *cries* I've not ven started work yet, and here I am having to deal with 'office politics*. It sucks!

On to a brighter note, I managed to survive the 1 1/2 months posting, passed my exams (could have done better), and even fought to go back for Chinese New Year! Woohoo! All of these wouldn't have been possible without the support of my groupmates (thank you thank you so much!). I know I may have acted like a b*tch at instances in the past (particularly at one of my groupmate), but thank goodness we're still in good terms, still talking. Cue sigh of relief *sigh*.

Part of my group with our beloved Paediatrician (Don't we all look so mature - minus the peace sign)

Now after the big drama of SSP, I'm relieved to be back hom for CNY. It's so nice to meet up with your family, despite all the fights and arguments you had in the past, they are family. I couldn't have been more blessed to have such supportive Mummy, Daddy, big sis and annoying lil bro.

Ohana means family; and family means nobody gets left behind. Love them to bits!

Now my crazy cuzzies with my grammy and grandaunt! (this is just half, the other half had yet to arrive)

So CNY was such a god break. First time I had a 2 weeks break! I think that would be my longest break from now on, with work inching closer and closer, on to that later. I threw all my books away, well aware that my professional exams were like 2 months from then, and just had a blast. So it was all good! *all smiles*

For the next two months, I was cramped up in my small lil corner of my room, going through the same routine everyday. Study-study-study-study-even more-study-all-you-could! You get the picture right? And that was until the day had finally arrived. Imagine going through SPM/STPM again. But this time is like whatever you've studied in your 5 years, all crammed up into 2 weeks of exams. It was terrifying. You can't eat, you can't sleep, you can't sit still, worst yet, you can't study. Eeeks! So I was so relieved to be over and done with, and with results announcement on that very Friday afternoon, it was a day to never forget.

Judging by the happy faces, I'm sure you could guess the results

I had 2 goals during my medical school life. I know how somehow I would lose track and lose all my focus, so there goes my distinction. But I really really really wanted a best module award, as well as obtaining a 4 flat GPA in any of the semester. Well the latter had been achieved in year 2 (hooray!), now the latter seemed impossible. But somehow (I think the bird's nest over my window helped) that came true that night and I was ecstatic! I know I didn't get like the 1st price, but I'm just happy to even be getting a consolation price. I mean I achieved my aim! Woopee! Teehee..

So year, now I'm officially a Dr. Dr.Karleen Chong. Glamorous? I still feel the same, I mean nothing much has changed, I'm still me. However, at times, I do feel a little burdened by the title. I mean I'll be the one handling patients from now on. Real life patient on hand depending on me. *shivers* So scratch that thought for now, somehow I'd find a way to make it true. *fingers crossed*

So post graduation, I've been on my long awaited holidays to 3 destinations namely Penang-Singapore-United Arab Emirates. I think to combine that in would make this blog post a tad too long. So that's all for now. I'm still trying to adjust to Malaysian time zone post Abu Dhabi trip (which is why I'm here blogging at 1am in the morning!). So till the next post!
